A love of vintage materials and the inherent beauty of crafted objects forms the origins of Tableau and our values. The enduring quality of these fabrics makes our clothes feel precious, yet easy, not bound by time and lovely to wear on the body.
All pieces are made in our UK studio, using antique and vintage textiles. We source the finest woven and embroidered cloths, honouring the beauty of the original fabric as we transform them.
Repurposed
We search far and wide for only the loveliest cloths. Some are immaculately preserved in their original condition, others are well-worn and well-loved with many stories to tell. We only cut these cloths with the utmost care, after much consideration.
Tableau is the antithesis of fast-fashion. We want your purchase to be well worn and loved for many years, and if you can bear to part with it, then passed on to a new owner - extending the life and story of these beautiful textiles.

There is something reassuring about these garments, imbued with the spirit of the original maker that give a sense of genuine connection to everything we do. These hand-created textiles would be so difficult to manufacture today, lending a special individuality to our clothes.

At Tableau, we value objects of age and beauty. As a small independent business, we genuinely source and make sustainable fashion in a sustainable fashion.
Nearly all our items are linen, one of the most environmentally sound fibres, requiring little water or fertiliser. It develops even more character with age and wear, and being biodegradable, will eventually leave no trace.
Wherever possible, we use vintage and recycled trims and always maximise each cloth with the minimum possible wastage. All of our packaging is fully recyclable.
